Josephians Rekindle Araw ng Parokya sa Eskwela July 27, 2007 by Ruby Erika May D. Callos and Maria Joanna A. Luciño

27th of July year 2007, another annual
celebration was held in perpetuity of
the feast of St. Joseph Parish. The students
of St. Joseph Academy ranging from the
4th grade elementary students to the high
school seniors witnessed and took part in
the said event.
Euphoria filled the air as the
celebration took place at the St. Joseph
Hall half past eight in the morning
starting the event with a celebration of
the Holy Mass led by our School Director,
Msgr. Albert Venus.
Several barrios that are included in the
parish prepared a simple but outstanding
presentation for everyone to witness,
students are assigned to one barrio each;
they were grouped according to the place
of their residences, unfortunately only 40%
of the whole school population were living
in the barrios provided and covered by the
parish so the 60% others were scattered
randomly. All the barrio occupants were
responsible for the performance of the
said event. The Masters of Ceremony, Mr.
Lorenzito "Sitoy" Hidalgo and Ms. Celina
Bautista, colored the mood with a zing of
their jolly hosting. First, upon gathering
together to the barrio they belong, the
students, together with the faculty and
administrators fixed the tables and chairs
provided for each barrio. An expanded row
of monoblock tables where all the foods
contributed were placed resembled a lunch
buffet table for everybody to share. After
the hefty lunch, the sequence of events
raved and the hall became an instant dance
floor. Everybody got the chance to show
the best out of them, showing the spirit of
a real talented Josephian they have among
themselves.
Father Didoy Molina gave an
inspirational opening remarks to start
things out.
Cheering Squads of different barrios,
where the elementary pupils participated,
shouted to the top of their lungs and
cheered for their own, one at a time.
Barrio Ilaya pioneered with a tandem
of a Cariñosa dance intermission and a
hippy modern dance number presented
consecutively carrying the same steps
each. Pulang Lupa, the barrio that painted
the town red together with their red shirts,
flags and confetti presented a jiggy dance
number with the upbeat of their drums
and presented their own patented mascot.
The Manuyo group danced their way
to the crowd using one of the music of
the Terriyaki Boyz called "Tokyo Drift".
And they drifted with their traditional
attires dancing the 21st century music, a
new innovation indeed. Then, there was
Barrio Poblacion, hyper, full of life, yellow,
complete with streamers and banners
and Goth masked dancers, glowing with
an outburst of euphoria dancing to their
drum’s rhythm to their heart’s content.
Last, but not the least was the Barrio
Aldana, diving into a dual performance.
The girls geared up with their malongs
with A’s painted on their cheeks, dancing
an ethnic Muslim music. Suddenly as
the music switched from traditional to
modern R&B their costumes changed
as well to casual party attire giving the
number a swift. After all the barrios had
performed, the event came to its end,
finalizing with a closing remark from the
SC President, Raymond Nheil Shappit.
The usual cleaning afterwards preceded
the yet another successful event.
